Frequently Asked Questions
Cancellation policy
Guests are entitled to 100% refund for every cancelled reservation made 24 hours to departure, no questions asked. In the event of poor weather, guests may cancel at anytime. I will conduct tours in rain and other poor weather conditions (I have complimentary rain ponchos). I have never cancelled a tour due to weather. If you’re still game to go, I’m game to take you, but I will also make every effort to accomodate you on a better date.
What can I expect on this tour?
I try to give an eclectic tour that balances historical facts with entertaining stories of the events and New York characters that helped create what you’ll be seeing. I hope you finish the tour with a clear picture in your imagination of what these places once were, who walked these streets, what they hoped to accomplish. I hope you get a balanced understanding of what these places represent today, to New York City and even the American dream, and what the future holds for NYC. And I also hope you have some laughs, satiate your curiosity and get some fresh air, exercise and most of all, enjoy yourself and this fine city I call home.
Is it safe to bike in New York City?! Isn’t that madness?
First and foremost, be assured, I’ve modeled biking tours by taking every precaution to keep it as safe as possible. Wherever available we’ll be riding in bike lanes. And we are absolutely staying off the busiest and most chaotic thoroughfares. But at times you may share roads with local residential street traffic, but they are obliged to respect the 25 mph speed limit. Most of the tours are primarily park ground, which presents its own challenges as pedestrians can be unpredictable.
If at anytime you’re uncomfortable, for any reason, please do not feel embarrassed about speaking up. This tour should absolutely be a fond memory of a delightful time you spent in NYC.
But I’m not a professional biker!
This isn’t Tour De NYC. We’re not doing this to feel the burn. We’re doing the tour for fun and we’re doing it on bikes so we can cover more ground in less time than walking and enjoy the superior views from the street, as opposed to bus or train. Routes are under 5 miles and do not include big hills or other challenging terrain, and we’ll be stopping often. It’s a leisurely-paced ride, so we can all enjoy sights and many breaks included.
Can I bring my own bike?
Of course. Let me know ahead of time.
Wait, where do I meet you?
That depend on your itinerary. You will recieve a confirmation email with all details and also my phone and other contact information you might need. Please feel free to call, or preferably, text as this is less disruptive to tours I may be conducting. International travelers can find me on WhatsApp.
