Morning
- Meet in outside Empire State Building Walk across 34th street, cut through new Moynihan Train Hall, chance to grab a coffee, snack
- 34 St-Hudson Yards See Shops at Hudson Yards, with stores from UNIQLO to Dior, the Shed performance center, Vessel public art/viewing platform
- The Highline Stroll down the Highline. This elevated park began life as a freight train platform. The Highline has since attracted coterie of world-class architects that have constructed some beautiful, modern towers.
Midday (start considering lunch)

Chelsea Market The market inhabits the building that was our country’s first National Biscuit Company (Nabisco) factory and hallowed ground where the Oreo was invented. This is a chance to grab lunch and go shopping.
- Little Island Across the Westside Highway, about 14th street, lies the Little Island. Once the destined port of the ill-fated Titanic, the Little Island is a charming park that opened in 2021 and is suspended over the Hudson River by futuristic-looking pods. It features a rolling landscape, beautiful views, public restrooms, and food kiosks, offering sandwiches, paninis, salads.
- Meatpacking Historical District Gansevoort Street If nothing appeals for lunch, head back across 10th avenue and check out all the multi-culture delights in Chelsea Market. The market inhabits the building that was our country’s first National Biscuit Company (Nabisco) and hallowed ground where the Oreo was invented. This is another chance to shop.
- Greenwich Village Wander charming brownstone streets, items of interest include the “Friends” apartment building, Christopher Street and Stonewall Inn National Monument (birthplace of modern LGBTQ movement). Also hot spot for Sex & the City fans with the Magnolia Bakery, the home of Carrie Bradshaw and the previous and current home of Sarah Jessica Parker and her family. Happy hour at Cubbyhole, charming bar, mostly lesbian, but open to all. If we’re hungry there’s a fun restaurant called the Cowgirl Hall of Fame.
Evening (start considering dinner)
- Washington Square Park We’ll be at about 4.5 miles at this point. We can make some decisions on Soho, Noho, Tribeca spots.
- Elizabeth Street Sculpture Garden Visit Little Italy, stop in the Elizabeth Street community garden. Nearby sites include Old St Patrick’s Cathedral and Lombardi’s famous NYC Pizzeria.
- Soho Shops. Walking down Wooster into Soho is charming with cast-iron fronted buildings and lots of shops.
- Tribeca We talked about WTC, but if you’re going to the Museum, you can check out the site then.
